Suggest a business
Know a Christian-owned business in Cookeville that belongs here? We’d love to hear about them.
This list runs on word of mouth
Every business on Worthy & Called is here because someone in the community can vouch for the owner — not a form submission or a self-reported badge, but a real connection. So the best suggestions come straight from you, by email. We review each one personally.
Email us the details
Tell us: the business name, the owner’s name, the category, why they belong here, and how you know them.
After you hit send
Suggestions don’t disappear into a queue. Here’s the actual path from your email to a live listing.
We read it
Every email is read by a person, usually within a few days. Nothing is auto-approved and nothing is auto-rejected.
We reach out to the owner
We contact the business directly to confirm they want to be listed and that they’re comfortable being identified as Christian-owned.
We check the work
We look at how they treat customers, not just what they believe. Faith isn’t a substitute for doing the job well.
The listing goes live
We write it, publish it to the directory, and let both you and the owner know it’s up.
Before you write to us
Can I suggest my own business? Yes — owners are welcome to write in. But a self-nomination is the start of a conversation, not a listing. We’ll still want to talk with you and hear from someone who has actually worked with you, because “vouched for, not submitted” is the promise this whole directory rests on. The full standard is on the about page.
Does the business have to be in Cookeville? No. Cookeville and Putnam County are the center of gravity, but the directory covers the wider Upper Cumberland — Algood, Baxter, Monterey, Sparta, Livingston, Smithville, and Crossville all count.
What if the category doesn’t exist yet? Suggest them anyway. Several categories are sitting empty for lack of a nomination rather than a lack of businesses — you can see which ones are still open on the categories page. Plumbing, HVAC, medical, dental, legal, financial, and auto repair are all currently unfilled.
What makes a suggestion easy to act on? A name we can look up and one specific thing they did. “They found the problem the last three companies missed and charged me for an hour” tells us more than a paragraph of praise. If you want a sense of what we end up writing, read the stories.
Thank you for helping
Every trustworthy owner you point us to makes this directory more useful for the whole community.
